Halloween Edition 2014 Pt. II

Halloween is still undergoing, and I have one more costume to share with you all. Ok, in the previous post I asked you to guess what costume I had designed. I gave you two hints: she is a Disney Princess and she’s an ice princess. Well it’s no other than Elsa from Frozen. It seems as though this year Elsa is the number one Halloween costume requested amongst lil girls, every ad seems to have her in the front cover! Good thing my little customer will not be wearing a store bought Elsa and look like the rest of the little Elsa’s lol she’ll be wearing a custom design setting her apart from them.     If you don’t know who Elsa is here is a picture of her. For this design I had to look closely at the details that make up her dress. She has a sweetheart bodice, with a v waist line, and semi fitted skirt. Her dress also has sheer sleeves, neckline yoke, and a cape which are covered in sparkles and snowflakes. Work in progress For this costume I used three different ...

Halloweend Edition 2014 Pt. I

It’s that time again, Halloween edition 2014. I’ve been a busy bee lately. This year I had a head start on Halloween costumes. I was contacted by last year’s mom to make her daughter’s costume again. This is awesome because she loved last year’s costumes and her daughter received many compliments. It always makes me happy to know people out there appreciate my work. So this year I made not one but two costumes for her daughter.   Costume number one is based on Maleficent, Princess Aurora! She wanted the “gold” dress the one where she gets crowned in. Here is a picture I found online to give me an idea. From studying the design it seems as though the silhouette is from the 1900’s. The bodice consist of a semi square neckline, princess seams, and decorative trim around the neckline, waist and sleeve. The skirt has two pleats and the dress is not too full. Taking what I analyzed from the original design I tried to interpret my way by adding my own twist. So I just kept it...

Halloween Edition 2013 Part I

October is here and the weather is chillier, leaves are turning orange-brown and falling to the ground. I love this time of the year I just want to wear my comfy sweater and drink a pumpkin spice latte and eat a pumpkin pie with whip cream. Anyways enough about what I love about October, well as you know Halloween is fast approaching, this year I had the privilege of designing not one but THREE Halloween costumes!! Here is my first out of three. My aunt wanted to be Gunter from Adventure Time. The character is a cute penguin. She wanted a dress that consisted of a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves, a hoodie, and ruffles at the bottom. Her fabric choices was satin, she wanted it to be shiny. The colors consisted of black, white, and orange for the beak. I made muslin for her to test out the design. However, the flared sleeve was omitted in the final design. After minor adjustments I was ready to sew with the real fabric. I have to admit this design had a lot of curbs that w...

Halloween Edition 2013 Part II

Hello everyone, happy Halloween!! Hope you all had a wonderful time trick-or-treating or giving out candy. It’s always fun to see the children get into character in there costumes they look so adorable. Talking about children as I mentioned in the previous post I had the privilege of designing two Halloween costumes one for a little girl and the other for a toddler. This is my first time designing for a small person; it was so much fun and the patterns where super tiny. They both wanted to be Jack Skellington from the Nightmare before Christmas. For the Toddler we decided to keep it original and close to Jack’s character. He would have a basic white button shirt, with a pinstripe suite and his bat bow tie. The back of the suite would have the tails flaring out just like Jack.

Halloween Edition 2012

When I think of Halloween, I think that this is your only time to really make a fashion statement. You can be whoever you want and be as crazy and creative as you want without having to worry about anyone judging you. With Halloween around the corner, I had the privilege to create custom costumes for my Uncle & Aunt. I thought this was pretty fun and interesting. Both costumes are cartoon characters from Cartoon network, Rigby from The Regular show & Finn from Adventure Time. Finn costume was chosen by my Uncle; it consist a hat & a functional back pack, (the back pack really inspired me to someday make accessories.) Rigby’s costume was for my Aunt I put my fashion spin on it and made it very girly but yet still keeping Rigby’s character in it. Well hope you enjoy this fun Halloween edition post.
