Minnie Mouse Inspired Outfit

For our daughter's birthday we took her to the happiest place on earth!! Yes, you guessed right! Disneyland, it was her very first time! I really wanted to make her a special outfit. I didn't want the traditional princess dress, I wanted to be comfy yet stylish. I remembered I had the perfect white polka dot on red it reminded me of Minnie Mouse's classic outfit. I figured I'd paired it with this tiny black polka dots on white sheer fabric. Since the weather would be warm I figured an off the shoulder crop top would be perfect. I had purchased the Coachella shorts PDF pattern from Striped and Swallow a while ago and I thought this be the perfect match with the crop top. I had been wanting to work with pom pom trim so I added them to the shorts and they made it look fun. The outfit didn't take long to cut and sew it was very straight forward. I definitely want to make more Coachella shorts using different fabric combos. My daughter really liked it but felt s...

Señorita Dress

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!! Today I'll be sharing a special dress I made last year for my shop. It was inspired by my Mexican roots and an often worn accessory the sarape. This is by far my favorite design! I instantly fell in love with the fabric from the moment I laid eyes on it. The fabric was so festive and bright it made me feel happy inside.   When designing the Señorita dress I wanted to do a lot of fabric manipulation. For the Bodice I played with directional lines, creating a chevron effect. I think matching the lines right was crucial otherwise it would have looked so wrong. When cutting out the pieces I had to cut one piece first and do line matching making sure they would be mirrored. It was time consuming but well worth taking my time. The bodice was fully lined with a light blue lining. I knew I wanted a showstopper for the back, I went for a back cut out. As you can tell by now I love having fun back details on my designs. For the back I had mirrore...

Not So Terrible Two's

Let's celebrate, Lollipop Couture's Etsy shop is turning TWO!!! 🎉 Wow, two years already! I remember all the mix emotions; afraid, nervous, and excited about opening my Etsy shop. I just felt like it was time to take that leap of faith, I had been doing custom designs for several years and I had a one year old daughter. Who inspired me to continue to chase after my dreams. I started designing for her and after receiving many compliments I decided the shop would be exclusively babies, toddler, and girls clothing and accessories. It hasn't been easy, between being a mother, wife, and business owner I have learned so much. I am so humbled to be designing for your little darlings, thank you for supporting my handmade shop. Thank you for following this crazy dream of mine! Cheers to the NOT SO TERRIBLE TWO'S! Red Bow Dress

If Mondays have you feeling a little blue, well you're in luck. I've got a red dress that will brighten up your day. In my previous post I shared with you one of the Valentine's day dress that I designed. Today I'll be sharing the second dress I made! If you must know I've used peachskin fabric multiple times and I have to say it has become one of my favorite fabrics. This fabric is soft, the texture literally looks like a peach skin lol, and it drapes beautifully. When it comes to Valentines day you can never go wrong with the classic RED dress so I went with just that.    The design was a bit similar to the previous one, with the bodice being a princess neckline, the skirt being gathered. However, the back of the dress was a showstopper if I don't say so myself. I made a fun cut out and adorned it with a nice big bow. When in doubt put a bow on it. I finished the hem with a delicate rolled hem and installed (yes you guessed it) an invisi...

Heart Cut Out Dress

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I popped up on here! I've been crazy busy being a momma, wife, and a Etsy shop owner.   It has been quite an interesting journey, very different from custom designing. I've learn so much these past months and I am continuing to learn. Hats off to you if you are a Boss Mom it takes a lot to run a home and a business! I'll be sharing with you all some of my Etsy designs with you all incase you don't follow my social media or Etsy shop. Since we are still in the month of February I'll be sharing my Valentine's day dresses. I made two designs for my shop the first design is the Heart Cut Out dress. For this design I wanted a fun focal point, I decided a heart cut out on the back would be cute. I started drafting and making a muslin sample I had to tweak it a couple of times because getting the heart shape wasn't as easy as I had thought. After three attempts I finally...
