Halloween Edition 2014 Pt. II

Halloween is still undergoing, and I have one more costume to share with you all. Ok, in the previous post I asked you to guess what costume I had designed. I gave you two hints: she is a Disney Princess and she’s an ice princess. Well it’s no other than Elsa from Frozen. It seems as though this year Elsa is the number one Halloween costume requested amongst lil girls, every ad seems to have her in the front cover! Good thing my little customer will not be wearing a store bought Elsa and look like the rest of the little Elsa’s lol she’ll be wearing a custom design setting her apart from them.     If you don’t know who Elsa is here is a picture of her. For this design I had to look closely at the details that make up her dress. She has a sweetheart bodice, with a v waist line, and semi fitted skirt. Her dress also has sheer sleeves, neckline yoke, and a cape which are covered in sparkles and snowflakes. Work in progress For this costume I used three different fabrics t

Halloweend Edition 2014 Pt. I

It’s that time again, Halloween edition 2014. I’ve been a busy bee lately. This year I had a head start on Halloween costumes. I was contacted by last year’s mom to make her daughter’s costume again. This is awesome because she loved last year’s costumes and her daughter received many compliments. It always makes me happy to know people out there appreciate my work. So this year I made not one but two costumes for her daughter.   Costume number one is based on Maleficent, Princess Aurora! She wanted the “gold” dress the one where she gets crowned in. Here is a picture I found online to give me an idea. From studying the design it seems as though the silhouette is from the 1900’s. The bodice consist of a semi square neckline, princess seams, and decorative trim around the neckline, waist and sleeve. The skirt has two pleats and the dress is not too full. Taking what I analyzed from the original design I tried to interpret my way by adding my own twist. So I just kept it sim

Last Minute Halloween Costume Options

Happy Friday Darlings, Halloween is fast approaching. What will you be? Don’t have time to go shopping or simply on a budget? Well don’t worry I got you! Did you know that you can go shopping in your closet? Well if you didn’t know now you know lol. I’ll be sharing with you some simple ideas that you can put together using your everyday wardrobe and a few accessories. First off we have “Where’s Waldo?” All you need are blue denim jeans, a red and white sweater. For the accessories all you need are some black glasses and a red beanie. This costume will be comfy, cute, and funny.   Another great option is the Morton Salt Girl. With a cute yellow summer dress, accessorized in Mary Janes with socks, and a black umbrella if you can’t find a purple one. I think this one is cute and creative.   Okay ladies this one is super easy. I know you all own a little black dress, but if you have a long black dress even better. Breakfast at Tiffany all you need is your LBD, black shoes, pear

Oooh La La in Paris! Fashion Illustration

Good morning gorgeous. Happy Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustration! For this collection my instructor said we could either make a Holiday collection or any other type of collection. Well what do you know I really wanted a sexy collection I thought of Victoria Secrete as inspiration. This was going to be my lingerie collection entitled “Oooh La La in Paris.” This collection is by far my favorite! I was really inspired I had a vision. For this collection the fabrics I used were silk, sheer fabric, and lace. The color palette was black and white. The back story: when I think of Paris I think about how exotic it must be and how it is known to be a romantic place to be. So with that said I decided one night in Paris with your significant other! I wanted the lingerie to be unique and sexy. The poses are flirty and give off a pin up style vibe. Design number one: we will call her Rapunzel, since her hair is blonde and super long. She is wearing a corset night gown, the feathers underneat

Katy Perry Fashion Illustration

Happy Friday fashionistas, let’s get started with “Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustration.” For this collection my instructor said to choose a celebrity whom we would love to design for. At the time Katy Perry was pretty popular and I felt like my design aesthetic was perfect for her. She is known for her colorful, extravagant costumes, and pin up looks. I wanted to still keep her in bright colors and fun silhouettes. I noticed that at the time she would always wear the sweetheart neckline; therefore I tried to give her different necklines. The fabric choices were silks, tulle, sheer, and denim. The color pallet consisted of purple, pink, green, and yellow. I decided to go with prints to make her outfits pop out. The back story: Katy Perry is on tour, she needs different outfits throughout her performance.   She starts with a semi casual look, transitions to a more jaw dropping look, and ends with the extravagant gown. Design number one: ok so I did design a sweetheart shape top, tha

Fall Fashion Illustration

Happy Friday everyone, here’s another edition of “Flash Back Friday Fashion Illustration.”   This is my fall collection, coincidentally just in time for the fall season! For this collection my inspiration was JLo, specifically the music video “All I have.” I really gravitated from her hairstyle and the make-up. Again I really wanted to incorporate separates. The fabrics I chose were velvet, polyester, tulle. The color pallet was soft pink, soft blue, browns, and gold. The backstory: my girl is in her mid-20, she doesn’t let the chilly weather stop her from wearing her miniskirts. Design number one: she’s wearing a velvet short puffy sleeve keyhole top with a pleated skirt. The skirt has suspenders and tulle underneath to give volume to the shape of the skirt. Her top is a turtle neck with an attached scarf. Her accessories include long gloves, knee high socks, paired with ankle booties. I decided to do the hair and make-up like JLo’s music video.   Design number two: she’s also
